Technology RTM
Technology-RTM is a training program aimed at training the design and production of carbon-fibre/epoxy RTM components to experienced engineers, mainly from the aerospace and automotive industries. Participating engineers are trained over a web-based learning platform by world-leading RTM experts. These trainers have diverse backgrounds and come from the industrial, academic and consulting world from Germany, US, UK and many more. To complement the web-based learning, a practical “hands-on” session is organized at composite manufacturer c2i in Slovakia which will enable participants to get a practical feel for the topic. The major aim is to transfer specific, practical knowledge to enable a quick build-up of know-how as well as intuition.
Topics include:
- RTM theory
- Resin flow (flow fronts, calculations, effect on quality)
- PAM-RTM software simulation by ESI Group (incl. race tracking, heating and cure simulations etc)
- RTM tooling (design, heating, sealing, materials etc)
- Preforming technology (incl. stitching, braiding, fibre-placement)
- Material selection
- RTM equipment considerations (injection machines, presses, preforming technology)
- Alternative liquid moulding technologies: RTM Light, resin infusion
- Experience transfer
- Case-studies: RTM design and production
- Practical “hands-on” training session
Training sessions start on February 2nd – 2011
Participants come from:
- Automotive
- Aerospace
- Formula 1
- Defense
- Composites companies and consultants
- Academia
